THE HUMAN DOING:

Some of the titles I wear include writer (editor/publisher), educator, entrepreneur, facilitator, leadership coach, men’s coach, mentor, storyteller, strategy consultant, and community builder. I’ve founded and supported personal and professional development programs in cities, corporate settings, and on beachfront and lakeside retreat properties around the world.

My first baby was Startup Island* back in 2015, (these days goes by Third Nature)—now I’m raising twins, SOALS** and Tell Us A Love, Story, bro.*** I’ve been Uncle to a handful of other projects in the years in between.

I’m driven by a vision of humanity where more people have the tools and support to work purposefully, connect deeply (to self, fellow humans, and nature), and live authentically.

🌴 Startup Island: Personal and professional growth experiences for individuals & organizations.
✍️ SOALS:
A community dedicated to helping teens amplify their voice through writing.
💙 Love Story, bro:
An online publication supporting men’s emotional development.

“The world Josh is creating consists of a landscape of deep connection, encouragement, wisdom, humility, play, support, and love. I am heartened and uplifted knowing he's out there chopping it up during this time of rich potential as a nation, as people, as inhabitants of this precious earth.”

— Pete McLean

“Josh helped me embrace a mission and vision that I held deep in my heart but wasn’t quite sure how to bring into reality. I founded BTG [Justin’s company] at the intersection of my love for basketball, leadership development, and youth coaching.”

— Justin Furtado

THE HUMAN BEING:

My extrovert gets his kicks through open dialogue and meaningful interaction. My introvert fills his cup through quiet reflection, nature-based practices, and sitting around the fire with chosen family. My artist is a poet and photographer. My competitor spends most of his time playing racket sports these days.

I prefer settings where there are more trees than people. I dream of co-creating a forest library/creative gathering space/affordable housing community in the woods with friends, mentors, and aligned partners sometime in the next 5-20 years.

While I love the tranquility of a hidden beach or the solitude of deep forest, my most sacred arena is an empty basketball court. Doesn’t matter how old I am, I’ll be out there, pretending to be Jordan or Kobe, down one. Five seconds left on the clock. Ball in my hands.
